Hallmark Holiday

You have to know that Hallmark Holiday movies are a BIG DEAL in the Peters Household. Before the Christmas lights or tree are even up in our house - you can guarantee that the Hallmark Movies will be on!

Sometimes criticized for their predictability - these heartfelt tales are perfect for Christmas time. In a season where we want to believe the best in people - you can find some heartwarming movies that show families coming together.

#5 - The Road to Christmas

Los Angeles television producer Maggie Baker unwittingly falls for Danny Wise, the son and former producer of his mother’s popular annual Christmas special Julia Wise Lifestyle. When Maggie’s secret plan to reunite Danny and his two brothers with Julia during the live broadcast in Vermont goes awry, Maggie is reminded that above all, it is the love for family and friends that makes the merriest Christmas

This is definitely the most humorous of the list. But behind the humor and traditional love story you see the tale of three brothers reconciling their relationship and dealing with the loss of their father. Filled with forgiveness and Maggie's determination to get a family together for Christmas, along with the heartfelt characters you meet in their cross- country adventure, this will bring both smiles and tears.

#4 - The Godwink Christmas Series

The next recommendation is a series of three movies. The Godwink Christmas series is unique because it actually tells TRUE stories of families united, people falling in love, and Christmas moments. The movies are good as you watch the heartwarming stories of families finding each other during the Christmas season but when you get to the end and see photos of the real people and stories that are portrayed in the movies - tears are more inevitable.

#3 - The Christmas Train

From Hallmark Hall of Fame, a journalist embarks on a cross-country train ride at Christmas, having no idea this journey will take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart.

If you are looking for a heartfelt journey, by train but also of self discovery, this is the movie for you!

#2 - Debbie Macomber's A Mrs. Miracle Christmas

When a family faces loneliness and loss of faith, Mrs. Miracle swoops in to renew their Christmas Spirit, and they experience a holiday of heavenly proportions.

The next stop on our Heartfelt Christmas Movies is Mrs. Miracle. Full disclaimer - "The Christmas Angel" sent to help is not at all theologically correct, BUT if you are looking for a heartwarming tale of a families choice to love and have faith again this is a great choice.

From the family coming to grips with the loss of their grandfather and losing the foster child they planned to adopt that year as well - you will find a journey of people choosing to love and believe for things again.

#1 - A Christmas Love Story

Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth stars as a youth choir director who needs to write a big song for a Christmas Eve show. She is distracted from her task when a boy with a golden voice joins her choir, which comes as a surprise to his widowed father, portrayed by Scott Wolf.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Don't be fooled by the name - it is so much more than a "love story". You see a story about choices and deciding what is important. Kristin Chenoweth brings both laughter and heart with her passion as a choir director for a New York school. One of the most heartfelt surprises of the movie centers around Kristin's journey to find the baby she put up for adoption years before.

Well, there you have it! Grab your blankets, hot cocoa, Christmas pajamas, and take some time to enjoy some holiday fun!
